LOS ANGELES, CA (September 20, 2006) - TBA Global has announced they are producing the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network's "Celebration on the Hill" for the second time. Held on September 19-20, 2006 in Washington, DC, "Celebration on the Hill" celebrates cancer survivorship, and empowers survivors and others to advocate for laws that will help fight the disease.
TBA is working hand-in-hand with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network to produce and execute the program, including the inaugural Wall of Hope on the National Mall. Anticipated to be one of the largest temporary displays erected in Washington, DC, the Wall of Hope will be constructed out of 5,000 signed banners gathered from local American Cancer Society's Relay For Life events held around the United States. The Wall of Hope will approximately be the length of 3 city blocks and constructed out of 35,000 pieces of steel. With an estimated three million signatures, the Society's Wall of Hope urges Congress to make cancer a national priority.
The "Celebration on the Hill" expects to draw more than 10,000 participants, including 4,000 American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network "Celebration Ambassadors". The state compound representing a Relay For Life celebration will be a focal point, featuring 50 state tents as well as a large stage with guest speakers and entertainment to be held throughout the day. In addition, a luminaria ceremony with 20,000 candles will light up the Reflecting Pool at dusk. The service honors survivors as well as those who have been lost.
New for 2006, "Celebration on the Hill" will have a live webcast. Viewers worldwide can participate in the ceremony at www.celebrationonthehill.org or www.cancer.org.
