In a recent issue of the European publication Incentives & Meetings International, Padraic Gilligan, 2008 International President of the Society of Incentive and Travel Executives, made a strong case as to why firms can benefit immensely by partnering over the long term with DMCs possessing global reach:
"A corporation may need to operate meetings and events in scores of different locations. But at each location it will require consistent branding and communication, the same seamless service, the same understanding of its corporate objectives, the same focus on delivering results, and more.
So working with a plethora of different DMC partners around the world is not only inefficient from a purchasing perspective, it is also potentially dangerous from a brand-integrity point of view. This is where the new 'global' DMC brands can deliver best; value for money can be achieved by leveraging the volume of contracted business, and brand integrity can be protected by having all local services delivered by a globally-aligned DMC organization.
Not only is it possible to have offer local services globally, it is now an absolute requirement in today's world. Customers from the corporate and institutional sectors increasingly have meeting and event needs that require both global and local know-how, and global DMCs are better positioned to provide these solutions efficiently and seamlessly."
